THE STORY...

You must be in a hurray to come down my little one, because it didn’t take long to get you. Thank goodness, because I took at lease 100 pregnancy tests in the one month that I was waiting for you to get here...

Two days ago I took SOME tests from the Dollar Store, your Aunt Lacee told me that the positive line can be amazingly FAINT and to double check my tests. So I did, and FINALLY... THAT FAINT LINE CAME!! However, I was so shocked that I took the test again (Yes, I did have multiple test hidden in the bathroom of our home), but this time when I took the test there was no question that the line was NOT there. I was so sad, It didn’t make much sense, so a few hours later I went to Target to buy a “Doctors Recommended” test. Of course the second I got home I took that test again... Again, it was NEGATIVE. This time there was no question, it read in big letters N-E-G-A-T-I-V-E. I was so sad!!

The following night we were babysitting our cute little nice Jocelyn. For some reason when we were done I couldn’t go to sleep (I think she makes me a little baby hungry) Dad was already out cold! I went down stairs to my hidden stash of pregnancy tests and even though it had only been a day I wanted to take the test again (It only takes once right?!) so I did and to an even bigger surprise than the first time, the test read in big letters P-O-S-I-T-I-V-E!!!!!!

I didn’t sleep much that night. My first reaction was to go wake up your dad, but I wanted to think of a more creative way to announce our first born baby! I went to bed at 3am and was up by 6am. I scanned the Internet for hours on anything and everything I could find about babies and pregnancy.

This is the day I had been waiting for my entire life. Since I was a little girl and even up to this day as a 27 year old adult often when I get out of the shower I look in the mirror and push my belly out as far as I can to imagine what it would be like to have a tiny little miracle growing inside me. I can’t believe it’s finally here. Although, I can’t see my bump yet, in only a few short months I will be able to experience what I have always dreamed of.

Tonight, Dad and I went to out to dinner at the restaurant where we had our wedding dinner. I brought him a present. It was of course the announcement of YOU! I told him that Hazen and Janet were in town and that they wanted to surprise him and show up to dinner and that the gift was for them since they too are expecting (There first baby girl). He was so excited for the surprise, but even more excited when I told him that they wouldn’t really be joining us for dinner, and that the gift was really for him.

Wrapped in the little white box with a big red bow, was a tiny little oncy and our positive pregnancy test. The look on my sweet hubby’s face was priceless. He was a bit emotional and overjoyed by the great announcement! We have talked about our sweet little babies since even before we were married. This was a day we will never forget. Dad said, I think this is what it must feel like to be purposed to- A total shock, pure love and excitement that can never be explained...

Today you are only 4 weeks along. You are the size of a tiny little poppy seed, big or small we love you unconditionally and are so excited for this 9 month journey. Dad thinks you are Lucy, but, I think you are Darrell: I guess we will see in just a short time who is right... Until then... we love you!!

Love, Dad and Mom
(September 2011)
